Did you know that September is Library Card Month? If you sign up for a new Los Angeles Public Library card, and share a photo of it and the books you check out on Instagram, you could win tickets to a Los Angeles Kings hockey game. See the link above for details.
But don’t forget that our neighborhood libraries are one of our best community resources all year round – there’s always something going on, for neighbors of all ages. Here’s the September schedule for the John C. Fremont library:
Tuesday, September 8, 2015 6:30PM
Please call the library for this month’s selection.
September 11 and 12, 2015 12:30PM
September 15, 2015 3:30PM to 4:30PM
Teen Council Meeting
Join us–help decide young adult programming and recommend new books, music, and movies for our library while enjoying light snacks….
BARK: Kids Read to Dogs
Saturday, 9/19, 2:00 pm
Join us and read books to dogs! BARK is an all-volunteer program that encourages children to increase their reading skills and self-confidence by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. Studies show that reading to these dogs actually leads to improvement in reading skills! Younger children may also attend.
Thursday, 9/24, 4:00 pm
You are cordially invited to join us for a delightful afternoon of stories and tea. Wear your finest washable tea party apparel, and come prepared to decorate a cookie and hobnob. Children of all ages welcome.
Baby and Toddler Storytime with the Librarian (starting 9/16)
Every Wednesday (starting 9/16), 10:30 am and 11:00 am
Both sessions are the same. Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, movement activities and more with Ms. Megan, the Children’s Librarian.
STAR: Volunteers Read to Kids
Tuesdays, 1:00-3:00; Fridays, 3:00-5:00 pm
Official library volunteers read in the children’s book area. Read stories together and learn how to earn a free book. Drop in anytime during their shifts.
