Local Schools Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday with Read Across America Day

Yesterday was the birthday of beloved children’s book author Theodore Giesel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss…and schools across the country – including many in our area – marked the occasion with Read Across America Day, a nationwide celebration of reading and books.

At Wilshire Crest Elementary, the Cat in the Hat (Transitional Kindergarten teacher Eileen Washington) came back, along with helpers Thing 1  (classroom aide Monica Rodriguez) and Thing 2 (parent volunteer Francis Luna), to welcome appropriately-hatted parent and community volunteers to read Dr. Seuss stories to the students in their classrooms.
