The Greater Miracle Mile Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual “State of the Mile” luncheon with guest speakers Congressman Ted Lieu and CD4 Council Member David Ryu on Thursday at the El Rey Theatre.
Billed as its “biggest luncheon of the year,” the civic leadership group has also assembled a panel of senior staff from The Petersen Museum, LA County Museum of Art, Craft and Folk Art Museum, The Academy Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum for a panel discussion focusing on the topic “Culture in a Construction Zone,” referring to the construction of Metro’s Purple Line Extension and the Wilshire and Fairfax station. Mark Panatier, Vice President for the Original Farmers Market will moderate the panel.
There will also be an update on construction of the new Academy Museum and the renovation proposed for the LA County Art Museum, both timed for the opening of the Purple Line in 2023.
