Tonight, Tuesday, August 2, is National Night Out, “an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.”

This year, as usual, both our local LAPD divisions, Wilshire and Olympic, will be celebrating with big events in their communities.

nationalnightoutwilshiresmallWilshire Division’s National Night Out event, co-sponsored by City Council Member Paul Koretz and the Melrose Action Neighborhood Watch, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poinsettia Park, and will include food, music, safety exhibits, pet adoptions, kids’ activities, free trees and other giveaways, and more.

nationalnightoutolympicsmallOlympic Division will hold its National Night Out event at its headquarters at 1130 S. Vermont, from 6-9 p.m.  Co-sponsored by the Olympic Park and Wilshire Center-Koreatown Neighborhood Councils, this event, too, will feature crime prevention and safety tips, games, contests, food and other fun activities…with the Olympic Division Senior Lead Officers as hosts.

Please come out and join your neighbors and local police tonight for this great community event.
