National Night Out is an annual community-building event, designed to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie all over the country, and to make neighborhoods safer by enhancing the relationship between neighbors and local law enforcement.
This year, National Night Out will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, August 1…and both LAPD’s Wilshire and Olympic Divisions will celebrate it with big community events.
Wilshire Division’s event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Poinsettia Park, 7341 Willoughby Ave., 90046. Â There will be activities for the kids, free giveaways, free trees, music, food and safety exhibits. It’s free and all Wilshire Division community members are invited to attend and enjoy.
In Olympic Division, there will be two gathering points for a march to the Olympic Community Police Station. Â Participants can meet at either the southwest corner of Pico Blvd. and Normandie Avenue, or at Seoul Park (3250 San Marino St.) at 6:00 p.m. Â The marches will begin from both points at 6:30. Â Festivities at the station, following the march, will include food, games, entertainment and more.
