Prospective Parent Tours at Van Ness Elementary School

Van Ness Elementary serves the northern parts of greater Hancock Park

With so many school choices these days, our local neighborhood public schools – lacking the fancy brochures, advertising budgets and splashy admissions events employed by many private and charter schools – can sometimes get lost in the shuffle.  So we’re happy to help spread the word that Van Ness Elementary, 501 N. Van Ness Ave., has scheduled two tours for prospective parents in the next couple of weeks.

The first tour will be held tomorrow, Friday, January 20, at 9:30 a.m.…and the second will be on Wednesday, February 1, also at 9:30 a.m.  The events will begin promptly at 9:30 with an introduction from Principal Katty Iriarte, followed by tours of the campus and classrooms led by school personnel.  If you’re currently shopping for a school for next year, please plan to attend…and see why former LAUSD School Superintendent Ramon Cortines described Van Ness as a “pocket of excellence,” right in our own back yard.

To sign up for the tours, please RSVP to Van Ness Ave Coordinator Carlos Santiesteban at [email protected].  Be sure to include your name and which tour date you will be attending.
