Remember “Obama Jams”? Get Ready for Some Trump Jams

President Donald Trump is coming to Los Angeles today and tomorrow, and while he won’t be in our immediate area, there will be street closures (and, presumably, traffic jams) both to the east of us in the downtown area, and to the west in Beverly Hills.

Here is the street closure schedule, as reported by CBS2 and KCAL9 news:

The LAPD [will] shut down several downtown streets starting at 4 a.m. Tuesday that will remain closed until midday Wednesday. They include Figueroa Street from 6th Street to 8th Street, Wilshire Boulevard from Flower Street to Beaudry Avenue, and 7th Street from Flower Street to Bixel Street.

In Beverly Hills, Sunset Boulevard between Ladera and Beverly Drives, and Benedict Canyon Drive between Sunset and Mulholland Drive will be intermittently closed between 5 and 9 p.m.

Afternoon commuters should prepare for rolling closures throughout Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.

From 2 to 4 p.m., the following streets may be shut down at a moment’s notice:

The area around Spring Street between South Avenue 18 and Alpine
The area around West College Street between North Main and Figueroa Terrace
The area around Stadium Way between Lilac Terrace and Bishops Road
The area around Wilshire Boulevard between 110 Freeway and South Flower Street

Between 4 and 6 p.m., the following streets may also be shut down at a moment’s notice:

The area around Wilshire Boulevard between South Flower Street and the 110 Freeway
The area around South Figueroa Street between 7th Street and West 4th Street
The area around North Hill Street between Bernard and Alpine streets
The area around West College Street between Yale and North Main streets
The area around North Spring Street between Alpine and South Avenue 18

Between 7 and 8:30 p.m., the area around Bundy Drive between Airport Avenue and West Pico Boulevard could be shut down at a moment’s notice. Sunset Boulevard between South Sepulveda and Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills could also be closed anytime between 7 and 9 p.m. Rolling closures may also occur between 8 and 9 p.m. around West 9th Street between the 110 Freeway and South Flower Street and the area around South Figueroa Street between Olympic Boulevard and West 6th Street.

According to the same story, Trump is here to attend a “big-ticket fundraiser” ($1,000 to $100,000 per ticket), hosted by real estate developer Geoffrey Palmer in Beverly Hills.

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is also in town over the next couple of days, and will visit homeless camps in Skid Row this morning.  O’Rourke’s visit will not involve any street closures.
