Don’t forget to save the date! On Wednesday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ebell of Los Angeles, 741 S. Lucerne Blvd., the Larchmont Buzz and Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council will present a Town Hall meeting at which the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife will introduce the Wildlife Watch program, how it works, how it might benefit communities  – like ours – with a large urban wildlife population, and how residents can form Wildlife Watch teams in their neighborhoods.
Sightings of coyotes and other urban wildlife have become a nearly daily occurrence in our neighborhoods, and the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services has been looking for communities to pilot a Wildlife Watch program similar to the one instituted in Huntington Beach a few months ago. Â The program, which is similar to the city Crime Watch programs in many of our neighborhoods, trains teams of volunteers to recognize, report and act on urban wildlife encounters of various types.
If you are curious or concerned about how to live with our resident wildlife, please pass the word to your neighbors, and please plan to attend. The meeting is free of charge and open to everyone.
