On Sunday, June 11th, tens of thousands of people will march to celebrate America’s diversity during Los Angeles LGBT Pride. This year, more than 100 organizations will join the #ResistMarch including GLAAD, Planned Parenthood, Black Lives Matter, ACLU, Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, the Human Rights Campaign, APLA, Bienestar and the City of West Hollywood. The #ResistMarch route will begin at the Hollywood and Highland Metro station and end in West Hollywood.

  • Fairfax Avenue, between Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard
  • Santa Monica Boulevard, between Fairfax Avenue and the City of West HollywoodOther associated closures:
  • Sunset Boulevard, between Highland and La Brea Avenues
  • Westbound Franklin Avenue, between Highland and La Brea Avenues

For a fuller representation, see the map of the entire route. For a more information, regarding parking restrictions, route maps, and road closures, visit the #ResistMarch website.

Also worth noting is that Metro will begin Purple Line jet grouting activity at a new location near Highland & Wilshire this weekend.  The work will include turn restrictions at the intersection. Jet grouting is a construction process that uses high-pressure air and grout to create a deep soil-concrete block to reinforce and strengthen the soil with concrete to support tunneling. It is expected to take approximately 8 to 12 weeks, and has been scheduled in the summer months during John Burroughs Middle School’s summer break. The following traffic control measures will be in place:

  • Wilshire Blvd. restricted to two lanes in each direction between Highland Ave. and Tremaine Ave.
  • Left turn restrictions will be enforced from driveways along Wilshire Blvd. between Highland Ave. and Tremaine Ave. Left turns from westbound Wilshire to southbound Highland will be restricted.
  • Temporary parking restrictions on Wilshire Blvd. between Highland Ave. and Tremaine Ave. Left turns from westbound Wilshire Blvd. to southbound Highland Ave. will be restricted, as will left turns from eastbound Wilshire Blvd. to Mansfield Ave., Citrus Ave., McCadden Pl. and Longwood Ave.
  • Intermittent weekday and weekend off-peak hour closures will occur on Wilshire Blvd.
  • Bus stops will be temporarily relocated in the area. Metro bus operations will announce the closures, add signage and publish detours.

The good news is, however, that Metro decking work at the Wilshire/Fairfax intersection this weekend has been cancelled, so that intersection is open and traffic will flow normally there.
