The weekly CD4 Planning report noted that on Friday, May 25, City Council Member David Ryu introduced a  motion, “Funding for the acquisition of 209 North Larchmont Boulevard,” to transfer $25,000 to a new account in the Recreation and Parks Fund for services associated with an environmental site assessment and the acquisition of 209 North Larchmont Boulevard.

As previously reported, the pocket park  started with a concept proposed by the Windsor Square Association (WSA), the neighborhood association representing the area that surrounds the Larchmont Village shopping district, between First Street and Beverly Boulevard, to add more green space to the neighborhood beloved Larchmont Blvd. The plan proposes taking six parking spaces along the southern end of the parking lot be replaced with a playground, which could also serve as a pilot project for potential further green space development.

The text of the motion below directs the Department of Recreation and Parks to conduct a site assessment for a potential park located in the City parking lot. The item will be posted on the next regular City Council agenda.

“The Council District AB1290 Fund provides funding for redevelopment and community services in various Council Districts. The Department of Recreation and Parks is providing services associated with an environmental site assessment and the acquisition of 209 North Larchmont Boulevard. This effort is of special benefit to the residents of the City and for CD-4 and deserves financial assistance from the City.

Sufficient funds are available in the Council District 4 AB1290 Fund for this purpose.

I THEREFORE MOVE that $25,000 in the AB1290 Fund No. 53P, Account No. 281204 (CD 4 Redevelopment Projects – Services) be transferred / appropriated to a new Account in the
Recreation and Parks Fund No. 205-88, entitled “209 North Larchmont” for services associated with an environmental site assessment and the acquisition of 209 North Larchmont Boulevard.

I FURTHER MOVE that the Recreation and Parks Department be authorized to make any corrections, clarifications or revisions to the above fund transfer instructions, including any new
instructions, in order to effectuate the intent of this Motion, and including any corrections and changes to fund or account numbers; said corrections / clarifications / changes may be made
orally, electronically or by any other means.”
