Hancock Park resident and highly successful television producer Shonda Rhimes has officially joined the ranks of celebrities with homes in both New York and Los Angeles. This week it was widely reported that Rhimes closed the deal on a penthouse on the Upper East side of Manhattan.

According to Architectural Digest:

“If Shonda Rhimes’s negotiating skills weren’t keen enough when she landed a $300 million deal at Netflix, the Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal creator just snapped up a Park Avenue penthouse in New York City for $3 million less than its original asking price. At $11.75 million, the two-bedroom apartment is located in a Rosario Candela-designed co-op building and features all the trappings of a luxury home fit for media royalty: an elevator that opens up directly onto the main entrance hall and foyer; a massive corner living room with walls of windows along two sides; a wood-burning fireplace; a nearby formal dining room with its own fireplace (the previous owner converted the space into a library); an eat-in chef’s kitchen with custom cabinetry, pantry, and wet bar; and an office ideal for Rhimes’s undoubtedly busy schedule of meetings and business calls.”

As we reported in October, Rhimes recently listed one of her four Hancock Park homes for $9.95 million. But she still owns the others, so we can still claim her as a neighbor!
