Speed Humps on Rimpau in Brookside

Speed humps have been installed on Rimpau Blvd., between Wilshire and Olympic Blvds., to slow down traffic in the Brookside neighborhood. A right-turn-only restriction at Plymouth and Beverly will go into effect soon.

As promised last January, traffic calming speed humps have now been installed on Rimpau Blvd., between Wilshire and Olympic Boulevards. There are only three humps, located on alternating sides of the streets, perhaps to accommodate driveways,  and the humps are low and large with extra reflectors, to show drivers they are in the middle of the street!

The installation of the humps was approved as part of the LA Department of Transportation’s efforts to slow down traffic and reduce accidents in residential neighborhoods. They were funded in the most recent funding cycle of the City’s speed hump program.

“The next round of funding opens on May 18,” CD4 Field Deputy Rob Fisher told the Buzz. “Generally it takes about 9 months to a year for the process to be completed.”

Fisher said that Council Member Ryu is committed to implementing traffic-calming measures and other restrictions to reduce traffic accidents in the district.

In addition to the speed humps in Brookside, Fisher said signs will go up shortly restricting traffic to right turns only for traffic going south on Plymouth at the intersection of Plymouth and Beverly Boulevard in Larchmont Village.

“We will continue to closely monitor traffic patterns and where they merit, we will place additional restrictions,” said Fisher. “The right turn restriction will apply only during rush hour.”

We’ll be sure and pass along a photo when the new signs are in place. In the meantime, drive carefully!
