National Doughnut Day

Who’s side are you on, “doughnut” or “donut”? I’m firmly on the “donut” team, but I can guarantee we will all unite this Friday, June 1st, when National Doughnut Day is upon us! LA is known for it’s plethora of donut shops and eateries so you won’t have to go far to celebrate this national food holiday.  Want to really get involved? Head on over to BLD’s Facebook page where you can vote for the donuts you’d like to see on their all-day donut menu this Friday. Options include chocolate pretzel (That’s my vote!), lemon, salt and pepper caramel and toffee bacon. Is your mouth watering yet?

Now once you have your donuts in hand, whether from BLD, Fonuts, BabyCakes, SK or just the local grocery store, here’s a few ways to incorporate them into your future parties and get togethers! Everyone loves a donut, so serving these crowd-pleasers is a sure win!

Donut Pops: Have a thing for mini-sized donut holes? Slap them on a stick and dip ’em in melted chocolate to create simple faux cake-pops! Sprinkles required.

Donut Cake: Pick up a dozen of your favorite donut variety and stack them on a cake stand. Add a few candles and you have a donut birthday cake!

Donut Tasting: Put the hype about LA donuts to the test. Grab a few donuts from several donut eateries around the city (Here’s a round-up of a few to get you started!) and create a donut bar. Invite a few friends over for a donut tasting and let everyone vote for their favorites. Pick up some colorful take out boxes at Vine American Party Store so everyone can bring home the leftovers (if there are any!) for breakfast the next morning.
