The LA Business Journal is reporting that the El Royale Apartments building at 450 North Rossmore Avenue is for sale. Built in 1928-1929, the building is a 12 story, 67 unit, community of apartments ranging in size from 1  to 5 bedrooms. According to the LA City zoning and planning website Zimas, the building is over 105,000 square feet of prime Hollywood Apartment living.
The historic building was commissioned in 1927 by Millionaire Ben Weingart. Weingart was a self-made real estate developer – an LA transplant who was born into poverty and left a foundation upon his death in 1980 that has given over $910 Million to Southern California charities. Architect William Douglas Lee designed and built the El Rey – finishing in 1929.
The City of Los Angeles named the building a Cultural Monument in 1986.
