LAPD Olympic Division Captain’s Corner – October 17, 2011

Olympic Area Commanding Officer, Captain Tina Nieto delivers her bi-monthly community message.  This message touches on the following topics:

  • Definition of Part 1 Crimes – each Division presents a Uniform Crime Report (UCR).  This report helps provide a nationwide view of crime.  The UCR reflects Part 1 Crimes.  So what are Part 1 Crimes?
  • Olympic Division Accountability – year to year
  • Officer involved shootings – 2 Olympic Division Officers were injured in the line of duty on October 1st.  Update.  Also, community can contact Olympic Division Community Relations at (213) 382-9130 to find out what the Division has set up to help these Officers out in their recovery.
  • Crime reduction – what can we focus on this week?
  • Olympic Division Fall Festival – 10/21-10/23 (this Friday – Sunday).  Tickets available at the Olympic Community Station -think about making a donation to a local needy family.  Proceeds go to helping area youth.
