Buzz Restaurant Recap to Jumpstart DineLA

Restaurant-Recap

We Angelenos love to go out to eat, and with the new year in full swing and dineLA’s 12 day feast to begin this next week, we thought we’d recap some of our recent food related stories in case you’ve missed them.

Maccheroni-Republic-Round-Outside-Patio-e1367481733930Maccheroni Republic: LA Times food critique Jonathan Gold finally wrote about this trattorria treasure in downtown LA by local resident Jean-Louis De Mori and partner Antonio Tommasi who operated Ca’Brea on La Brea and Locanda Venetta on 3rd. The fare is delicious, prices reasonable, and location warm and charming and about 20 minute drive from Hancock Park. Read Gold’s LA Times review in today’s paper to get your mouth watering, with how-to on parking and locale, in our story Macheroni Republic is a Downtown Discovery for the local angle.

Republique-4Republique on La Brea just opened in December, and when we tried to get in to sit at the bar on Wednesday this week, the place was packed and not a seat available during the dinner hour, proving the food must be as good as it’s purported to be. The owner-chefs, a husband and wife team, live in the Mid-City area and always seem to be around making it feel like a “local” spot though it has much grander credentials. Mud-Hen-TavernMud Hen Tavern, Susan Feniger’s remake of her former Street restaurant on Highland Ave. now serves up an American gastro-pub menu rather than its earlier international street food menu, and the place seems to be catching on. The LA Weekly did a review of Mud Hen in December when it just opened, but no other major food critiques have weighed in just yet. See our story at  New Gastropub on Highland .

This week is the beginning of dineLA  (January 20-31, 2014) and Eater LA put together their list of Where to Eat in 2014 for the 12 day event that brings us prix-fixe menus for lunch and dinner across the great gastronomic land that is Los Angeles.
