Even though he’s leaving Los Angeles in tough financial shape, Mayor Villaraigosa and the City of Los Angeles are throwing a free “Block Party” on the steps of City Hall and in the new Grand Park this Friday, June 7th from 5-10 pm to “say good-bye to Mayor V” and we imagine, hello to Eric Garcetti, (though there’s no mention of him on the PR materials.) If you haven’t yet checked out the new Grand Park that spans two blocks near City Hall, this may be your opportunity.
Guests speakers for the event include former President Bill Clinton, Ryan Seacrest and “many more”, along with food, music and a festival-like atmosphere. The event is produced by the City of Los Angeles and the Community Arts Resources (who also bring us CicLAvia) and is sponsored by some of LA’s biggest corporations including Disney, Time Warner, the DWP and Wells Fargo.
