CicLAvia: Iconic Wilshire Boulevard Rolls Through Greater Wilshire on Sunday

Ciclavia June 23

CicLAvia: Iconic Wilshire Boulevard takes place this Sunday right on our doorstep! The route is all about Wilshire Boulevard, with a car-less Boulevard between Downtown Los Angeles and Fairfax Avenue. Participants can enter the route at any point along the 6-mile course and explore the central core of our City by bike, foot, skates or other non-motorized transport. More than 150,000 people are expected to participate in this seventh CicLAvia, which has been expanded by two hours, keeping the Boulevard car-free from 9am– 4pm.

CicLAvia is free and no registration is required.

“This is our dream CicLAvia. The route is ideal for pedestrians, for people who love the history of Los Angeles architecture, foodies, families, cyclists and everyone who wants to experience the grand thoroughfare of Los Angeles from a new perspective,” CicLAvia Executive Director Aaron Paley said.

The June 23 event is the most walkable CicLAvia ever and will feature two pedestrian-only zones at the One Wilshire and Miracle Mile hubs. Additional hubs include MacArthur Park, Mid-Wilshire and Koreatown, which will host the annual Korean BBQ cook-off and a cultural festival.

Bikes at HubSpecial CicLAvia Tips

  • Get there early! Crowds build throughout the day…and there’s nothing like riding on the open road.
  • Be sure to download the Stories About Wilshire Boulevard podcasts – we can’t wait to listen to these. They are worth downloading and keeping for future walks along Wilshire.
  • The Koreatown Hub is likely to be the most popular stop along the way. CicLAvia coincides with the annual Korean BBQ cook-off. Get there early too!
  • Take great care in getting to Wilshire Boulevard…from the north be sure to cross at a light on 6th Street. Be safe from wherever you travel from.
  • Visit as many of the hubs as you can…the folks at CicLAvia have more activities planned than ever before. Hubs are CicLAvia managed rest stops where you can get water, restrooms, first aid, bike repair (Note: the bike repair for the Koreatown Hub is at Wilton Place and Wilshire).
    • The Mid-Wilshire Hub is at Rimpau and Wilshire. There will be food trucks and the KCRW Moves SUV.
