First Fridays at Natural History Museum Begin Again

This month’s First Fridays at the Natural History Museum is a great mix of science and music. Photo compilation from NHM.org.

One of our favorite monthly events starts up again this week: the First Fridays series at the Natural History Museum.  The program this Friday, Feb 6th is all about Do-It-Yourself Science, how professional scientists are getting assistance from average citizens and science enthusiasts to help observe and collect data via social media and crowdsourcing, to further scientific inquiry of our world.

This Friday’s event will include a forum with Sam Droege (6:30pm) titled “Taking Control of Your World – Citizen Science Activism” as well as presentation/tour by Lila Higgins titled “Finding LA’s Hidden Wildlife One Photo at at Time” (5:30 pm, 6 pm, and 6:30pm.)

All the while, one can sip a glass of wine or beer, tour the galleries at leisure, and gather in the performance hall to hear live music from Robert DeLong, Tom Vek and the band Quitapenas (8-10pm.)

One ticket gets you into all events, galleries and the music.
