Calling all wannabe ukulele players – there’s a group strumming this summer downtown at the Music Center.

The Ukule-Along is a get-together for amateur musicians, beginner to intermediate level, that has dozens of people sittin’ and strummin’ alongside one another in a variety of ukulele classes at the Music Center. Designed for uke players 18 years and above, the group meets Saturdays, 10:30 am –  1 pm once a month this summer, July 5, August 2nd, and September 13th. “Beginner” is qualified as “the ability to strum in rhythm while playing these five chords in this order: C, Em, F, D7 and G7.”

Online registration is required prior to June 30th. Participants must bring their own ukulele and a music stand. Registration is $10 per session or $25 for all three sessions – you can join in one or all, and improve your chords, fingerpicking and learn some drills.

Did you know ukulele means “jumping flea” in Hawaiian? Referring to how your fingers will be hopping along the ukulele strings once you join in the Ukule-along.
