Life Lessons Through the Lens of Art

And now – for an experience that combines art history, life lessons and performance art  – we introduce a series of free, probably wacky, lectures offered by the recently created and pseudo-scholarly Fontbron Academy. Just looking at the poser photo of the Fontbron team (above) and their latin-inspired insignia makes you smile and know these two are taking ‘academics’ to a new level.

"Don't Be Sad: Happiness Through Beauty" will be the first in a series of 'lectures' at Fontbron.

Fontbron founders Robert Fontenot and Micol Hebron team up to give “valuable life lessons” through the guise of art history. Using performance, powerpoint presentations, and interactive rhetorical play to delve into a myriad of contemporary topics, their first foray – “Don’t Be Sad: Happiness Through Beauty” – will take place on Wed. July 11th, 7:30 – 9 pm at 6020 Wilshire Blvd. One topic per month will be explored from now through December, and attendees will be awarded certificates upon completion.

Since this is the first “performative lecture”, and no one knows quite what to expect from Fontbron, we can only share a few tidbits on the namesakes of the academy to give you an idea of what could be in store. The Font in Fontbron is conceptual artist Robert Fontenot who has worked in textile art and bread dough sculpture (!) while the Bron in the name is Micol Hebron, a video artists, performer, writer and curator. To get a feel for their take on art, we’ve clipped a few of the graphics from the Fontbron Facebook page to share with you below.
