DeSano Pizza Bakery in East Hollywood

Desano Sign

DeSano Pizza Bakery presents an opportunity for a delicious new adventure in East Hollywood. The 7,000 square foot building that is home to DeSano, on Santa Monica Boulevard between Alexandria Avenue and Kenmore Avenue, has been transformed into a celebration of great pizza and the community that comes together around it.

The menu is all about fresh ingredients…starting with their authentic Pizza Napoletana. According to the DeSano website:

Making Pizza Napoletana in the Verace Artiginale (true Artisan) method requires a strict process and certain products only available in the Campania region of Southern Italy. The savory crust is a result of hand kneaded dough crafted in small batches. Nothing is added but the finest sea-salt, fresh water and a century of passion. Hand crushed, San Marzano D.O.P tomatoes, fresh Mozzarella di Bufala from Campania and Extra Virgin Olive Oil of the highest quality are the typical products good enough to top a DeSano Pizza. DeSano Pizza is lightly charred in ovens built from Refractory Sorrento Stone, designed to perfectly distribute the 900 degree heat generated by our select hardwoods.

And the pizzas are cooked quickly in that 900 degree heat! In 60-seconds the pizza is perfectly ready.

When you walk in to DeSano, there’s a counter where you place your order. Then you walk from there into a choice of dining areas – a large room with a large projected TV on the wall and an even larger room – anchored by the big pizza ovens in the back of the room and filled with plenty of comfortable communal tables. There are TVs on the wall to watch sports. And pretty quickly, your order is delivered to you by one of the friendly staff.

This is the newest location for the boutique pizza chain coming out of Nashville, Tennessee.  DeSano originally opened in Nashville in 2012 and then opened another in Charleston, SC in 2013. The East Hollywood location opened in January 2014.  It’s the perfect outing for your family or a large group/party.

Important Note:  There is very convenient, free parking in an adjacent lot at the corner of Alexandria and Santa Monica. The parking makes this a really easy outing.

  1. We ate there last week. Really Great pizza, super nice staff, though the ambiance is a little odd. Cavernous. No Plates, (paper towels on a roll), but certainly worth a visit.

FYI: Currently NO BEER and WINE and you cannot bring your own while they are applying for their license.

  2. We’ve eaten here a couple of times and the pizza is the best in town – all ingredients from the flour, tomatoes, cheese and salt are imported from Italy. It is very causal dining and we were told that the beer and wine are coming…

    • Yes! I forgot to add that…but it looks like they’ll have their license mid-June if all goes well. Great crust – right?!
