Fourth of July Fireworks Not Far from Larchmont Village

185/365 Independence

Tomorrow is the Fourth – and that means fireworks. Here are a few options not too far from the Larchmont Village, Hancock Park area.

Wilshire Country Club: While the annual fireworks show above the golf course at Wilshire CC is for members only, Hancock Park area residents often find a front lawn or curb on a nearby side street to sit and enjoy the short and sweet show. You may not have a big crowd to ooh and aah with, but the convenience of not having to drive far makes this a great option. The Wilshire Country Club is located on the corner of Beverly and Rossmore.

Grand Park in the LA Civic Center:  Two main stages will usher in the 4th of July at the eight-block party from Temple to 2nd Street (between Grand and Main.) Musicians, dancers, DJ’s and live music – with room to picnic in between. Park opens at 3 pm, music begins at 4 pm, rooftop fireworks display with “special effects pyrotechnics” begin at 9 pm. This is an alcohol-free event. Parking at the Music Center.  Website: Grand Park LA

LA Coliseum and Exposition Park: Community concert, food, games rides and fireworks display at Exposition Park near USC. Open from 12 noon to 10 pm, entrance is free. Enter at MLK & Hoover, or 39th and Figueroa. Parking at the LA Coliseum. Website: LAColiseum.

Culver City: West LA College, 9000 Overland Ave, 4 pm doors open. Live music, food trucks, carnival games and a fireworks wall in addition to a spectacular show shot off from two locations.
$5 per person, children under 6 free, $10 parking. Website: Culver City Fireworks Show

Hollywood Bowl:  Smoky Robinson will be headlining the Independence Day celebration with fireworks each night – the fireworks display overhead with accompanying music is one of the best spots to mark the 4th in Los Angeles. Tickets $14-$243 are still available from Hollywood Bowl.

LA Dodgers: two nights of fireworks July 3 and 4 follow the Dodgers-Mets games, with the USO Show Troupe performing after the game and before the fireworks. Saturday’s game at starts at 4:15 pm, fireworks at 8:45 pm. Tickets $30 and up at the Dodgers.com.

Happy Fourth of July!
