Jerry’s Famous Deli on Beverly Closed

Jerry's-Famous-Deli

Located across from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and serving up some of the best chicken soup to cure any ailment, Jerry’s Famous Deli on Beverly quietly closed its doors on Sunday, leaving fans of 20 years surprised and in the lurch.

According to WEHO Daily, the space West Hollywood Jerry’s (there are other branches in Westwood, Marina del Rey and Studio City) had become too big for its use as a deli, and too small for the intended new incarnation of Jerry’s as an upscale market selling high-end groceries, fresh produce, meats, fine wines, teas and specialty foods. Highly successful in Florida as a market-deli, the owners see our area as perfect for their new format and will be looking for a new location later in the year.

  1. I’m not really shocked. Their prices were outrageously high and the wait-staff, overall, was indifferent at best and outright rude at worst. And the food really wasn’t anything to write home about.

  2. I too am not surprised. Jerry’s, a quasi-icon, had some of the highest prices around. Although their food was good, my only great memory is that night nearly 18 years ago when we were having dinner and my wife went into labor, right across the street from Cedars.

  3. Best chicken soup.. really.. try blandest chicken soup.. this place had never heard of the word ‘seasoning’ let alone salt or pepper. the potato latkes were decent tho.. that’s about it.
