Los Angeles Drama Club Featured in PBS Series LAaRT

LA Drama Club PBS Special

Locally grown right here on La Brea and First, and thought to be the youngest Shakespeare troupe in the nation,  the Los Angeles Drama Club is to be featured in the PBS series LAaRT this week on PBS So Cal.

Through the simple production of “putting on a play” the young performers, grades 1 – 9, learn to decipher the language and themes of Shakespeare’s greatest works while developing their own sense of accomplishment, artistry and community.

While many of the young Bards in the LA Drama Club are residents of the greater Hancock Park/ Larchmont area, the troupe has also expanded its reach into the West Adams/Mid-City area and takes ensembles of performers into under-served schools, libraries and public venues to share their love of Shakespeare with other communities.

The LAaRT series on PBS So Cal  looks at the creative process behind some of the most “intelligent, diverse and at times surprising” people and events involved in arts and culture in Los Angeles. We imagine LAaRT will feature local celebrities Blaire Baron (Co-founder and Artistic Director) and Julia Walker Wyson (Executive DIrector) as well as many of the young thespians from our neighborhood. Try to tune into one of the three shows set to air this week.
