Many say that Americans have turned college admissions into a terrifying and often devastating process causing anxiety during all stages of a student’s life. Frank Bruni’s talk and book “Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be” addresses the conviction that the futures of young people, and their worth, will be determined by which colleges say yes and which say no. Bruni explains why this belief is wrong, and offers students and parents a path out of the anxiety it provokes.

Frank Bruni_1Frank Bruni writes about higher education, politics, culture, food and gay rights. Known for his insightful opinions on our current world, his career at the New York Times has taken him from metropolitan reporter to White House correspondent, staff writer for The Times Magazine, Rome Bureau Chief, restaurant critic, and to his current role as Op-Ed columnist. Bruni was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist in feature writing for his coverage of the Persian Gulf War for the Detroit Free Press. He is the author of two New York Times bestselling books, the memoir “Born Round: A Story of Family, Food and a Ferocious Appetite,” and a chronicle of George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign “Ambling Into History.”

The evening is free and open to all. Seating is limited, and a reservation is required. Please RSVP at http://www.thewillows.org/Page/Community/Events.
