The Story Behind the Larchmont Bike Corral Installation

LADOT Bike Corral

When the bike racks were removed back in August 2013, the loss was felt by many who ride their bikes to Larchmont Village on errands, for a meal or to enjoy the Farmers Market on Sunday.

Our neighborhood scores high for walk-ability/bike-ability – the loss of dedicated places to lock bikes has been felt.

Thanks to the dedication of one local biker who kept asking the LADOT for replacement racks after the Boulevard lost the 33 in 2013, LADOT thought of Larchmont when they had a ‘spare’ bike corral. You can read Richard Risemberg’s account of how Larchmont Wine and Cheese agreed to sponsor the Bicycle Corral and about the other businesses who lent their support. A lot got done in a short period of time.
