Gone are the days when the LA Marathon ran right down Rossmore Ave, bisecting the Hancock Park area and forcing area residents to stay home, enclosed in the “Marathon Box” while runners ran a portion of their 26 mile epic journey right past our front doors.
This year’s route, “Stadium to the Sea” runs from downtown to the beach in Santa Monica, making a nice high arch through Hollywood, and leaving residents in this area pretty much free to travel south and west without much trouble. Nevertheless, those heading to the Valley or East LA will find routes blocked.
Due to the high heat expected this Sunday, March 15, the race has moved to a 6:55 am start instead of the usual 7:25am. Race officials say the LA Marathon is sold out for the third year.
The full description street closures (beginning at 4 am Sunday) Â can be found on the well-built LA Marathon website.
