Anderson Munger YMCA Nearing Completion

Anderson Munger YMCA

The new Anderson Munger Family YMCA is set to open April 12, 2014, and from what we see it looks like it will be a great neighborhood spot for community and exercise, right here on the edge of Hancock Park. We’re sharing a few sneak shots of what’s being built behind the temporary fences on the corner of 3rd St and Oxford, just one block east of Western Ave.

A rooftop basketball court and running track, indoor workout gymnasium, a 25 yard lap pool and shallow pool, countless classes, and sunny meeting rooms are some of the amenities the Anderson Munger Family YMCA will have to offer. There will even be a picnic spot on the rooftop for friends to gather and enjoy the views over Hollywood, Hancock Park and Koreatown.

For those in the know – there is also a great opportunity to become a Charter Member before the April opening. Charter members receive FREE 3 hour parking for life in the three level adjacent garage, a tote bag and T-shirt, and a reduced $50 membership “joining” fee. Perhaps best of all, Charter members get to exclusively use the facilities for the first 2 weeks (and you can walk-in and join during that two week period, March 29-April12 and become a Charter Member.)

“We’ve been getting great response,” Whitney Smith, Associate Director of Development for the YMCA told the Buzz.” We already have 500 Charter Members and are well on the way to our goal of 800.”

For more information, and to check out the Charter Membership opportunities, see the YMCA website. Monthly rates are $72/month/family, $47/month/individuals, $40/month/seniors and $31/month/young adults (18-22).
