There was an attempted robbery on 1st street and Van Ness in Windsor Square on Wednesday February 11th, at approximately 7:30pm.
A male resident was walking alone and was approached by two suspects, male blacks in their 20’s, dressed in dark clothing. One suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his money. The victim was fortunate to be able to run away, avoided being robbed and was not injured.
“Don’t be distracted – particularly by using your phone – and try not to walk alone at night,” Officer Joseph Pelayo of the Olympic Division told the Larchmont Buzz. “Often, people are focused on their phones and unaware of someone coming up behind them.” Pelayo cautions that victims’ distraction is a common element in many of these incidents.
In a related matter, Windsor Square residents are gathering information on recent mail and package thefts in their area, and would like information from residents who may have been victimized. Email the Windsor Square block captains. Â Evidently a burglary suspect has been arrested and many of his victims may not have reported the crimes to the police.
