Tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council will meet at the Ebell of Los Angeles for their monthly meeting.

Items on the agenda include a vote to support the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council resolution and other NC actions regarding current City proposals, plans and processes for operating the Greek Theatre.

The Land Use Committee is requesting board approval of their recommendation to support the Historic-Cultural Monument application for the H.H. Whitley Mansion at 634 S. Crenshaw Blvd. The property is under imminent threat of demolition and development. The property is zoned R-3. Past land uses have included, in 1963 Tidewater (Getty) Oil Company designated the property as a “church”; in 1967 it was repurposed as an “adult school”; it is currently used a sober living board and care facility. The property remains intact and embodies all of the characteristics of a master Southern California architect, Harry Hayden Whiteley.

The Land Use Committee is also recommending support the inclusion of the R-1 properties in the Sycamore Square neighborhood, as well as the west side of Highland Avenue between Wilshire and Olympic, for inclusion in the ICO with specific terms to prevent additional teardowns of existing single-family homes.

The board will also review reports from the Transportation committee and the newly formed Sustainability Committee chaired by Julie Stromberg, Windsor Village board member.

The meeting is open and members of the public are invited to attend.
