The 1.5 acre estate that has been home to the Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas family for the past 16 years could be yours – if you can pull together a cool $16 Million. The very private property (only lush green bushes can be seen from the street) includes a 15,000-square-foot home designed by Hoover Dam architect Gordon B. Kaufmann.
Kaufmann came to Los Angeles in 1914 and early in his career he did a lot of work in the Mediterranean Revival Style. Other Southern California projects he worked on include Scripps College, Greystone Mansion, Santa Anita Park and Cal Tech’s Dormitories known as South Houses and the private club Anethaeum.
According to the LA Times Hot Property column, the couple purchased the larger corner property at 6th Street and Muirfield Road in 1999 and then added an adjacent property in 2000.
