Last week a group of students at USC crunched the numbers and analyzed how residents within different geographical areas of the City donated to the race for LA Mayor. Data within their analysis showed that 50% of contributions to the race came from the Westside.
That report got us curious about comparable mayoral contributions in the Greater Wilshire area. We drilled down on the flow of political contributions in six neighborhood zip codes to see what the numbers might say about passion for the respective candidates. We then examined contributions for different time intervals: contributions through the Primary, contributions since the Primary, and aggregate contributions (through May 15, 2013).
It appears that donation patterns remained consistent throughout the election. Eric Garcetti dominated the flow of contributions in the Greater Wilshire area but Wendy Greuel’s supporters remained loyal from the beginning.
what great info. thank you for doing that
