Kreation Kafe, an organic juicery, has opened at 121 N Larchmont, taking over the former Twirl Frozen Yogurt space which, at one time, was also a juicery. Larchmont is the 13th location for the Santa Monica based company, which says its mission is to provide “healthy and delicious drinks designed to invigorate the body and mind.”
We stopped in on Friday afternoon and chatted with manager Jon D’leon, who, coincidentally grew up around the corner
on Gower. He has recently returned to LA from San Francisco, where he worked for Pressed Juicery, which also has a location up the street at 201 N Larchmont.
D’leon pointed out that Kreation does not high-pressure pasteurize any of its products, in contrast with its competitors. Apparently, high pressure pasteurization extends the shelf life of fresh juices, but it can destroy the beneficial microorganisms as well.  According to D’leon, all the juice products at Kreation are sold within 24 hours, or removed from the shelves so that customers are always assured of fresh products.
The array of options can be overwhelming to the uninitiated juice consumer. An enthusiastic customer gave us her recommendations, explaining that she’s a big fan of Kreation, has been to all their locations, and is thrilled to have one now on Larchmont. She had stopped in to get a Turmeric shot, which is served with an apple slice.
