LAPD Helicopters Sunday Evening Trying to Flush Out Burglary Suspects

Residents of Windsor Village were lighting up their neighborhood email list-serve last night as an LAPD helicopter lit up their skies doing circles around Victoria Ave at 9th Street for over four hours in an attempt to find two burglary suspects.

Two black male suspects in their 30’s pried open a door to a residence in the 900 block of South Victoria Ave at approximately 3:25 pm while the residents were at home, making it a “hot prowl” burglary. They fled the property when the residents became aware of the burglars, taking Korean currency and keys with them, Senior Lead Officer Hebel Rodriguez told the Larchmont Buzz in a phone interview on Monday morning.

Officers from LAPD Wilshire kept residents of the 800-1000 blocks of Victoria Ave from returning to their homes as several dozen police officers blocked off the streets, called in Air Support, and brought in a canine unit to sweep the area in an effort to find the suspects. At one point the circling helicopter broadcasted a “Surrender Immediately” announcement which gave locals a feeling that they were caught in the midst of a heated stand-off and left many on edge.

At approximately 8 pm the helicopter left and LAPD Wilshire tweeted  “Search on Victoria now concluded. The suspect was not caught. Described as a Black male wearing a dark hoodie and winter hat with fur.” Any persons with further information or leads on the burglary and sweep should call LAPD’s Wilshire Detective Division at (213) 473-0476.
