Many of the LAPD Olympic Officers that we know and work with to keep our neighborhood safe, including Senior Lead Officer Joseph Pelayo, were involved in a highly dangerous incident last Thursday afternoon in an office building at Wilshire and Mariposa.
According to the LAPD, on Thursday, November 11th at approximately 3:45pm, the suspect entered a business located at 3440 Wilshire Boulevard, and proceeded to shoot the victim multiple times while inside the office. The shooting prompted a radio call and Olympic Area personnel quickly responded to the scene. Sergeant Young immediately assembled a contact team including Senior Lead Officers Helper, Pelayo, Stoecklein and Mollinedo to address the possible active shooter at the location. The contact team approached the office, located the downed victim and simultaneously encountered the suspect. The suspect surrendered to officers, and was quickly taken into custody. Officers rescued the additional employees who were still inside of the business, and recovered the firearm.
In addition, Patrol Officers Balgemino and Cabral assisted in the safe conclusion of this incident.
Unfortunately, the unidentified victim passed away over the weekend according to the LAPD.
