Metro Update on Purple Line Dig Beneath Wilshire Blvd

Metro Purple Line 1

The “Subway to the Sea” project will begin digging along Wilshire Blvd from Western to La Cienega in 2014, certain to have impact on traffic, noise and dust in our area for the next eight years.

Last week Metro held a meeting to update local stakeholders about the schedule and systems to be used to dig the giant tunnel beneath busy Wilshire Blvd, intending to limit the ‘above ground’ impact to 2 1/2 years and continue to work below the surface boring the tunnels and building the stations for another five years.

Metro shared these schematics with the public so we’ll have a bit better idea of what to expect. For more slides and further information, visit the Metro Purple Line home page. Stay tuned for more information on the Larchmont Buzz as we follow the development.
