Last week, LADOT installed a new stop sign at Van Ness and Lexington, north of Santa Monica Boulevard. CD 13 Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell dedicated the sign on Saturday, February 8 as an added measure to slow traffic along the route and protect pedestrians, including students heading to and from Helen Bernstein High School and Joseph LeConte Middle School.
According to one resident, the 4-way stop sign (instead of just 2) has already made the intersection much safer as a number of car accidents have occurred, including one that involved a police car.
For the eastern side of Windsor Square and Larchmont Village, Van Ness is a favorite north-south route to Hollywood and the Hollywood Freeway. So just a heads up…stop. A full stop, as LAPD is likely to help us remember the sign is there for the immediate future.
