LAPD Officer Harris (Harry) Cho was recently assigned the post of Senior Lead Officer (SLO) for Basic Car A53 in the Olympic Division serving the Wilshire Park, Country Club Park, Country Club Heights and parts of Koreatown. Residents of the area, primarily east of Crenshaw and south of Wilshire Blvd, were pleased to learn that Cho, who served for almost two years as “Acting SLO” was formally assigned the position.

Cho spent his early years not far from the neighborhood he now serves. His family came to the U.S. when he was just six years old and he attended Hoover Elementary School from first through fourth grade. “I am so pleased to serve the community I grew up in,” Cho told the Larchmont Buzz in a telephone interview. His family moved on to Tempe Arizona and then he moved  back to Hollywood near the Paramount Studios. Cho never forgot his ties to the Wilshire area and finds it rewarding to be back near his early roots.

The Korean-American intends to keep communication between the community and the police force open and supportive. He regularly patrols the area and meets with neighborhood associations in an effort to curb crime in the area, the majority of which are burglaries and burglaries from motor vehicles.

Cho spends most of his time off-duty on sports fields with his wife, daughter and son. “Our free days are filled with practices, games and tournaments,” Cho said, referring to the current spring season of softball and baseball that consumes the family. Cho also said he enjoys “trying to play golf” but laughs at his level of expertise.
