Beverly Boulevard from La Brea west to Fairfax will be closed to traffic this weekend for resurfacing. The Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services (BSS) announced that traffic will be limited both on the boulevard and crossing the boulevard on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, 2015.
The first phase will require the preparation of the existing roadway by cold milling the street. The boulevard may be open one lane each way during this period, and will reopen for limited use on Saturday night.  On Sunday BSS will pave and resurface the street and drivers should avoid the area as the road will be closed off. The work is scheduled to be completed within two days, provided no extenuating circumstances arise.
The Bureau of Street Surfaces has a variety of information on its website, including a “Road Surface Condition Map” which we’ve captured a picture of in the diagram above. Red markings show streets in poor condition, with yellow in fair, and red in poor condition. Blues show work in progress. While the map and list of streets in repair or scheduled for repair doesn’t always appear to be up-to-date, it gives a glimpse of how the greater Hancock Park / Wilshire area of Los Angeles still needs a lot of work. We were pleased to see that the lower section of Larchmont Boulevard was recently resurfaced: it now awaits new striping.
Also on the BSS site: a place to report a pothole, links to apply for tree planting, tree removal and root pruning permits, and a place to report a “tree emergency.”
Anyone needing information on street work done in their neighborhood can telephone BSS directly, and actually speak to a real person, at (213) 485-5561, (213) 485-5562 or (213) 847-3200.
