Been wondering what’s going on at the former Taco Bell at 1028 S. La Brea, south of  Olympic?
It’ll still be serving up tacos – but this time from Danny Trejos, aka “Machete”, the moustached maniac from numerous films including Spy Kids, Â Bad Ass, Machete, Desperado, and Con Air (to name only a few of the dozens he has appeared in.)
Trejo is best known for his distinctive looks including a heavily scarred face, heavy mustache and the giant ‘woman in sombrero’ tattoo on his chest. Hopefully he also knows his way around a good taco.
Eater LA reports that the new taco shack will serve beer and wine, be wrapped in steel with leather and ash wood seating inside, and drought tolerant landscaping outside. The taqueria is designed by Spacecraft and was expected to originally open this month, but now is postponed to sometime in late spring or early summer 2015.
