Calling it “a perfect example of Neighborhood Watch and neighbors working with private security and the LAPD,” SSA Security reported that two burglary suspects were caught on Tuesday in the 100 block of North Irving in Windsor Square.
On the evening of Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at approximately 7:24PM, SSA received a phone call from a client whose neighbor saw a possible residential burglary in progress next door to her home on Irving. According to SSA, two suspects had entered a residence that was under construction/renovation and not currently occupied. According to the witness who reported the burglary, the suspects had driven up on bicycles that were still parked in front of her neighbor’s residence, which was enclosed by a temporary six-foot green mesh construction fence.
LAPD was called, but before officers arrived, the two suspects were spotted leaving the residence with bags full of clothing, a purse and other miscellaneous property in their hands. The suspects loaded the property onto the handle bars of the bicycles and prepared for departure. They looked in all directions and began to ride southbound along the east Irving sidewalk on their bicycles. Then both suspects were apprehended, one by SSA, the other by LAPD then both were taken into custody.
LAPD Burglary Detectives will be conducting a follow-up investigation to determine if these two suspects have been involved in other burglaries in the area.
“This is another example of what can be accomplished when the residents, SSA and LAPD work as a team to “suppress criminal activity” and make the neighborhood more safe and secure,” said Jerry Shaw of SSA Security Group.
