The hardscaping of the medians on North Larchmont is complete and locals are waiting for the landscaping with great anticipation. Larchmont Buzz reached out to the City of LA Bureau of Street Services (BSS) for a timeline on steps towards completion.
After the BSS completed the hardscape, the LA Department of Water and Power (DWP) was scheduled to install water meters for the sprinkler system. That work was completed approximately three weeks ago, clearing the way for planting.
According to Sunny Ton, Landscape Architectural Associate, Engineering Division at the LA Bureau of Street Services, landscaping crews from the BSS will finish the work on the North Larchmont medians after they complete the project that they are currently working on…the medians on Pico Boulevard (between La Brea and Fairfax).
The finished product will include both plants and a Larchmont sign that match up perfectly with the medians on the southern end of the Boulevard. “The medians have been designed to connect the north and south sections of Larchmont Boulevard as a Village,” said Ton.
Plantings will include: Dwarf Heavenly Bamboo, Jacaranda, Radiance Flax, Lily of the Nile and Ivy Geranium.
I am sure the new medians will be very nice. However, it is extremely frustrating to see the City, and our Council Office securing money for new medians, while our potholes and streets are in horrific condition.
