Water Main Break on Melrose at Wilcox

Wednesday, December 12 at 8:30am – Melrose is closed between Cole and Seward heading west today as LADWP crews work to repair a water main break in the middle of the street on Melrose in front of the Hudson Liquor store.  Repairs are expected to take between 4-5 hours.  Expect delays through this section of Hancock Park.

The break caused a large sink hole which caused a power pole to become unstable. Crews have stabilized the pole. Residents and businesses in the immediate area are without water.

  1. Thanks for the notice! And glad they are out there. But… the power poles on Melrose should be undergrounded. They depress the revitalization of that area, not to mention being a huge safety risk. What if the pole had toppled over from the sinkhole with live wires? What happens when the big one strikes?
