According to the Wilshire BRT, work continues on the west bound lanes of Wilshire Boulevard. Crews are ripping out the old asphalt, concrete, and potholes as the project continues to move west, making way for Wilshire Bus Rapid Transit lanes.

Upcoming work: North side of Wilshire Boulevard – Lorraine through Rossmore Avenue

2/24 to 3/3 | 7a to 7p – expect lane closures on Wilshire Boulevard, between Lorraine and Plymouth Boulevard, for removal of existing roadway, restriping of temporary lane markers, and complete replacement of the curb lane on Wilshire Boulevard.

Starting on 2/24, Lorraine at Wilshire Boulevard will be closed while the work is in progress and until it’s completed (7a-7p).

On 2/26, work is slated to proceed east towards Windsor Boulevard and Plymouth Boulevard (shorter hours – 7a-1p). Both Windsor and Plymouth at Wilshire will be closed during this time.

On 2/28, work will begin along Wilshire Boulevard at Arden Boulevard and Rossmore Avenue. Work will continue on this stretch through 3/17. Please note that Rossmore will have restricted traffic, but it will NOT be completely closed.

Lanes have been restriped to accommodate space for the contractor to work. Workers are pouring the concrete as quickly as possible, but it does take time.

Wilshire BRT reminds drivers to be extra cautious/alert in the construction work zones, and to share the lane with cyclists. Representatives for the BRT project thank area residents for their patience and assure the community that the work continues to be on schedule.

The Wilshire Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is intended to further improve bus passenger travel times, service reliability, ridership of the existing Wilshire BRT system, and encourage a shift from automobile use to public transit. When finished, this project will include 12.5 miles of fast moving bus lanes – mostly along Wilshire Boulevard – from Valencia Street (just west of the 110 Freeway downtown) to the Santa Monica city line at Centinela Avenue. The entire project is expected to be finished in Winter of 2015.
