Wilshire Lane Closures to Start Friday

Get ready, Wilshire lane closures will start this Friday, November 6.  Metro announced Wednesday that work to reduce the available lanes on Wilshire Blvd. will take place from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, November 9th. The work was originally scheduled to start last month but was delayed while traffic control equipment was reprogrammed. The closures are part of the preparation for the pile installations that will begin in November.

Starting Friday, the Metro contractor will be installing k-rail (concrete barriers) and fencing around the north three lanes of Wilshire between Mansfield and Detroit Street.  The project will also include street re-striping, and traffic signal reconfiguration. Parking will be removed on Wilshire from Mansfield to Detroit.

As a result, Wilshire Blvd. will be reduced to two lanes in each direction from Highland to Cloverdale. Traffic delays are anticipated for the first few days as drivers adjust to the changes. Metro will have Traffic Control Officers (TCOs) on hand at major and artillery intersections.  Real-time information will be available at metro.net/service/advisories or (323) GO-METRO (323-466-3876).

The reduced lanes will be in place for the duration of pile installation activities, which is anticipated to last 6-8 months.
