The Windsor Village Association hosted the newly-elected Councilman for CD4, David Ryu and his Field Deputy, Nikki Ezhari, in a backyard luncheon on Saturday August 8th that was attended by approximately 60 residents of the area.

“What’s been done in the past is the past. This is a brand new council office. With utmost respect to councilmenber Tom LaBonge, who I look forward to working with, who I am working with, we are going forward.  I look forward for me and my office to work with you guys, to resolve all your issues. But we’re not going to be able to solve it overnight, because there’s been a lot of pent up demand in recent months and years, so we’re trying to get through it.”

Ryu, who has been in office for one month, explained that the office is now almost fully staffed, saying he took “careful attention to pick good staff, who are going to go above and beyond” to serve the needs of the communities he serves. He introduced his Senior Deputy Nikki Ezhari, the Hollywood Field Deputy which includes the greater Hancock Park/Larchmont area and a former LaBonge employee.

To handle planning and land use issues, Ryu announced that Renée Weitzer, also a former LaBonge staff member, would head up his planning and land use team, and be supported by Planning Deputy Julia Duncan.

Ryu told the community to “give me some time, and help me prioritize” noting that Windsor Village had already handed him a paper detailing eight issues that face this particular community.

Ryu also said the City has been a bit slow in getting his webpage live on the Los Angeles site, but that he hopes it will go live this week. In the meantime, he encouraged everyone to email him or his staff directly with their thoughts and concerns, at [email protected].

The Councilman and his staff stayed to share in the potluck lunch with the community, and chatted with individuals who had specific thoughts and questions for him.
