Mayoral Forum: Candidate Kevin James on LA’s Urban Design

Architecture, design and urban planning will be discussed in a series of ‘meet the candidate’ forums to hear directly from LA mayoral candidates on their vision for the Los Angeles of the future. What does our fair city feel like today, and what should it evolve into? The series will focus specifically on the design and liveability of our urban environment and how it can be improved upon. The series of forums is sponsored by the American Institute of Architects-LA Chapter, and Matt Construction.

The second candidate in the series, Kevin James, will be peppered with questions this Friday, March 2nd from 7-9 pm.  Moderated by LA City Planning Commission President, Bill Roschen, and architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne, the public will get to hear the candidate’s responses to such questions as:

  • What responsibility does the private developer have to the public realm of our city?
  • How would you encourage better design and a broader application of good design in the city?
  • Who is the steward of the LA built environment?
  • What specific LA projects or urban environment do you especially admire and why?
