Residents in Hancock Park are out of the dark now that street lights are back on 4th Street from Hudson to Las Palmas and June Street and Hudson Third Street to Wilshire Blvd. It took many phone calls to various City departments and offices on the part of residents and the neighborhood association but finally the lights came back on Wednesday evening at 6 pm.
The problem was first reported by residents on 4th street in the block from Hudson to Las Palmas after the first of year. Shortly thereafter, Hancock Park HOA President Cindy Chvatal Keane began making calls to CD4 to ask for assistance since the numerous 311 calls weren’t getting a response.
It seems that while street lights fall under the purview of the Bureau of Street Lighting, they are also serviced by LADWP if there’s an outage. In this case, the timers that turn the lights on and off were not functioning. Once they were reset, the lights came back on. Residents are advised to report any outages right away to 311 and let the HOA know too.
