Ben Seinfeld, Field Deputy to Councilman Tom LaBonge, called us on this week to welcome in the new year and let us know he’s back in town after a a holiday break. Seinfeld also wanted to let us know that there are two new stop signs the Councilman’s office was able to implement via the City’s Department of Transportation (LADOT.)
Located in the Larchmont Village alley that runs north-south and parallel to the boulevard, the new signs now require drivers to make a full stop prior to exiting north onto Beverly Blvd and south onto First Street.
While it seems obvious that both routes require a full stop, the signs will hopefully make it safer for pedestrians who are walking on the sidewalks at both exits. Drivers often don’t stop until well into the sidewalk after cruising down the alley, almost hitting pedestrians who are not easily visible on the sidewalk outside.
